Jonas Folger is back in MotoGP with GasGas Tech3. The rider has been chosen as the replacement for Pol Espargaró from the GP of the Americas, while the Spaniard is recovering from the injuries suffered a week ago at the Portuguese GP.
The German is also returning to Tech3 team, where in 2017 he had his only season in the premier class – in which he even got a second place in the German GP.
After being affected by Gilbert's Syndrome, Folger put his career at the highest level on hold, before returning to the international scene at the Superbike World Championship in 2021.

Earlier this year, he took part in the Sepang shakedown with KTM being the new test rider of the manufacturer, and now he will face a sporadic return to competition in MotoGP during Espargaró's absence – the period of it is still uncertain.
In a statement, Folger said: ‘First of all I really hope Pol is doing well and getting back on his feet as soon as possible. I’m sure he has the right people around him. From my side I’m looking forward to racing again and arriving to Texas to see all the guys from my old team! I hope we can do a decent job and I know it will be a big challenge for me since testing has only just started. However, this will be a great opportunity to get up to speed and learn more about the bike. I’m thankful and now looking to Texas’.
