One of the major uncertainties in the MotoGP lineup for 2025 may soon be resolved. Prima Pramac Racing has reportedly decided on the manufacturer with which it will partner, choosing to switch to Yamaha.

This information comes from Sky Sport Italia, a leading television broadcaster in the premier class. It appears that the project and conditions offered by the Iwata-based manufacturer have convinced Paolo Campinoti’s team to leave Ducati after two decades of partnership.

The decision is allegedly already made, with only the official announcement pending. Pramac’s future will have significant implications for the rider market, as there will be two fewer Ducati bikes and two additional Yamaha bikes on the grid. Franco Morbidelli, the current Pramac rider, may need to look for another team even if he earns the trust of his current team, given the many difficulties he faced with the YZR-M1 between 2021 and 2023.

On the other hand, Fermín Aldeguer will have only four potential seats (Gresini or VR46) to aim for, with expectations that Morbidelli might join VR46. Additionally, it remains to be seen which team Ducati will supply with the latest version of the bike – Gresini or VR46, or possibly one to each, considering that currently only Pramac receives the Desmosedici GP24.

If confirmed, Yamaha will regain a satellite team after two seasons of having only its two factory bikes. It appears that Álex Rins will continue to be Fabio Quartararo’s teammate. With two more YZR-M1 bikes on the grid, the development of one of the current less competitive bikes could accelerate considerably, also benefiting from the extensive concessions in place.
